About GEC

The Global Energy Conference is back!

The highly anticipated annual gathering of energy leaders will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, on 28–29 April 2027.

Since 2015, GEC has brought together energy management professionals from large industrial companies to exchange knowledge, gain fresh perspectives, challenge conventional thinking and explore innovative solutions that help their organizations stay ahead in an evolving energy landscape.

How can companies turn energy market complexity into a competitive advantage?

This year’s GEC will explore practical strategies to manage energy market risks, optimize procurement costs, unlock the value of consumption data and streamline data flows, among other topics impacting your energy management.

Keynote Speech

A leading voice in global energy markets, offering expert insights into the energy transition, investment trends, and the future of the energy industry.

  • Gerard Reid, co‑founder of Alexa Capital and co‑host of the Redefining Energy podcast

How to report to your C-Level

This session will explore how to report energy procurement to C-level executives, focusing on the strategic management of energy costs and market risks, effective energy data management, and alignment with corporate sustainability goals. It will examine how to turn procurement data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making, strengthen risk management, and demonstrate the contribution of energy procurement to overall business performance and sustainability targets.

Case Study

This session will explore the energy procurement and risk management approach of a leading global industrial manufacturer.

Gain first-hand insights into how a large, energy-intensive organisation navigates market volatility, manages procurement risks, and develops strategies to ensure cost control and security of supply in an increasingly complex energy landscape.

Discover the challenges, best practices and lessons learned from managing energy procurement risks across diverse operations.

Meter Data in action − Case Study

Accurate meter data is a powerful tool for making smarter energy procurement decisions. This session will explore how organisations can turn consumption data into actionable insights to improve forecasting, optimise purchasing strategies, identify cost-saving opportunities and manage exposure to energy market volatility.

Workshop: 4 options, choose 1 (two timeslots)

A) Advanced risk management – optimizing commodity procurement

Beyond simply fixing your commodity price, this workshop will explore the available tools and practices to engage into advanced risk management.

The workshop will explore how to increase the sophistication and effectiveness of fixing strategies through different products.

It will also review unfixings, clarifying the sell-back process, exploring where it should and should not be applied, and will illustrate its potential benefits in complex portfolios.

Through practical examples, we will illustrate how to optimize hedging positions in the context of volume variations and dynamic market trends, while keeping the main strategic objectives as priority

B) Lost in the sustainability reporting jungle? Risk management strategies for energy procurement

The evolving sustainability reporting landscape presents growing challenges for energy procurement teams, as organisations navigate multiple frameworks, changing requirements, and increasing expectations around sustainability data and transparency.

The session will begin with an overview of the key sustainability reporting frameworks and regulatory requirements relevant to energy procurement, setting the scene by clarifying their objectives, scope, and implications for energy buyers. Building on this foundation, the discussion will examine how evolving reporting obligations can affect procurement decisions, data collection, supplier engagement, and long-term energy sourcing strategies.

C) Energy procurement savings – from measurement to meaning

In this workshop, we will examine practical approaches to reporting energy procurement savings. It will compare different reporting methods.

The session will explore reporting needs across procurement functions, including risk management, invoice control, contracting and tendering, amongst others.

Anonymized real-world cases will illustrate positive and negative savings, help interpret root causes, and guide recommended actions.

D) Optimizing your data flow

From messy meters to boardroom insights - how to organize your energy data flow for action.

Energy data is often fragmented across sites, metering systems, suppliers, and internal departments, making it difficult for organisations to build a consistent and actionable view of their energy consumption, costs and performance.

Through practical approaches to data flow mapping and information management, the session will explore how to translate operational energy data into business-relevant insights for finance, sustainability and senior management, supporting better cost control, procurement decisions, emissions reporting, and strategic planning.

Wrap-up and Q&A

Get ready for a dynamic and thought-provoking finale! Expect fresh perspectives, lively debate, meaningful exchanges, and plenty of food for thought to close the day with inspiration and new ideas.
